NIBA - the Belting Association strongly believes in protecting your privacy and personal data. The purpose of the NIBA website is to provide tools for collaboration through the flow of information between NIBA, its partners, its participants and visitors to our site. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information NIBA may collect from you or that you may provide when you visit our website, www.NIBA.org or its associated websites or pages, however accessed (the “Site”) and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, and disclosing that information.

Each time you visit www.NIBA.org, we will automatically collect the following information, which does not necessarily identify you individually

  • Technical Information: This includes the Internet Protocol (IP Address) used to connect your device to the internet, browser type and version, time zone, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform.
  • Information Specific to Your Visit: This includes pages your visit and searched for, page response times, length of visits to specific pages, click, links and mouse-overs, and the path you take from one page to another.
  • Browsing Information: We also collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser and we use this information to generate statistics and analytics about our visitors to our Site. We may use this information to provide a better online experience with site improvements, providing better customer service, or use it as market research based on our visitor’s actions.

  • To provide any outgoing publications, newsletters, and event emails you have requested or that may be of interest to you.

  • To provide you information about upcoming events, offers, products and services we offer that are similar to those that you have participated in, with the exception of those that you have opted-out of.
  • To notify you of any changes to our services.
  • To provide and maintain our Site.
  • To gather analysis of valuable information so that we can improve our Site.

  • In order to serve you as a member or participant of NIBA

Although we use security measures to help ensure the protection of your Personal Information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While your information is stored on secure servers and any payment transactions will be encrypted using SSL Technology, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Because our Site is secure, your browser URL will inform you if you are leaving a secured portion of the Site. We strive to ensure that any information you send us is safe. When you leave this Site and go to another linked site, we are not responsible for the content or availability of the linked site. Do Not Track

Third parties may collect information about you across different websites, including our Site. We do not currently utilize the capability to respond to web browser do not track signals or other mechanisms that provide you with the ability to exercise choice regarding the collection of this information.

Data Controller
NIBA obtains and processes personal information in different capacities. When you provide us with your information through our Site to purchase products, obtain information, subscribe to emails or newsletters, or otherwise communicate with us, we serve as a data controller. When we act as a data controller, we determine how Personal Data, as defined by the GDPR, will be utilized in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

NIBA’ legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this Privacy Policy depends on the personal data we collect and the specific context in which we collect it.
NIBA may process your Personal Data because:

  • Request erasure of your Personal Data. You may have the right to request that Personal Data held about you is deleted. If you ever wish to correct or remove any personal information from our records, you may do so by contacting staff@NIBA.org.
  • Also, if you wish to opt-out, contact staff@NIBA.org.
  • Object to processing of your Personal Data. You may have the right to object to our processing of your Personal Data where we are processing your personal data based on our legitimate interests and we cannot demonstrate compelling grounds to continue such processing or for our direct marketing.
  • Request restriction of processing your Personal Data Request. You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal information:
    • During the pending period of time where we verify the accuracy of any personal data that you claim is inaccurate
    • Where the processing of your personal data is unlawful but you oppose erasure and instead request that we restrict the use of your personal data
    • If we no longer need your personal data but it is required for you to make or defend legal claims
    • During the pending period of time where we verify our legitimate interest to process your data when you object to such processing
  • Right to Data Portability. Where we process your personal data by automated means that you have provided to us based on consent or through contract, you have the right to be provided with a copy of the information we have on you in a structured, machine readable and commonly used format.
  • Withdraw your consent. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time where NIBA relied on your consent to process your personal information.

You also have the right to make a complaint to an EU Data Protection Authority if you believe that NIBA has not complied with its obligations under this Notice or European law.

Retention of Data

NIBA will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your personal data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.NIBA will also retain Usage Data for internal analysis purposes. Usage Data is generally retained for a shorter period of time, except when this data is used to strengthen the security or to improve the functionality of our Service, or we are legally obligated to retain this data for longer time periods.

NIBA stores personal information in the United States. If you provide us information, it will be transferred to and accessed in the United States. NIBA Mobile App Privacy Policy

NIBA - The Belting Association strongly believes in protecting your privacy and personal data. The purpose of the NIBA 2024 Annual Convention mobile app is to provide tools for collaboration and information flow among NIBA, its partners, participants, and users of the app. This Privacy Policy describes the types of information NIBA may collect from you or that you may provide when you use our mobile app, NIBA 2024 Annual Convention (the “App”), and our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, and disclosing that information.

By accessing or using our App, you acknowledge and agree to the privacy practices set forth in this Privacy Policy.

What data do we collect?

In NIBA 2024 Annual Convention mobile app, event organizers may provide/upload the following attendee Information:

  • First Name
  • Middle Name
  • Last Name
  • Designations
  • Phone
  • Email
  • Attendee Profile Image (Headshot)
  • City
  • State
  • Company
  • Title
  • BIO

 

Within the app, you will have the option to edit this information, or remove yourself from being displayed in the attendee list.
NIBA 2024 Annual Convention mobile app collects:

  • User Profile Information
    The initial information uploaded/provided by the event organizer can be accessed by you and you can edit/delete your profile information.
  • User Profile Image (headshot)
  • The initial image maybe be uploaded/provided by the event organizer can be accessed by you and you can edit/delete/upload your profile image (headshot).
  • User Device Information: When you install NIBA 2024 Annual Convention, the app may collect your device information from your mobile device. We collect this information to help generate app adoption analysis, enhance our product performance and monitoring.
  • Graphics and Images: If the social posting feature is configured, users can post graphics and images in social posting. This information is strictly based on user input and can be removed based on request.
  • User App Engagement Activities: The NIBA 2024 Annual Convention mobile app may capture users’ app feature usage to generate engagement ranking to encourage app adoption.

How do we use the personal data we collect?

Attendee List/Profile:

  • If event organizers elect to show attendee list for the event, your information will be displayed in the list and attendee profile.  You do have the option to control what information to be visible to other attendees, in addition to opting out of the attendee list.

Attendee Profile Image (headshot)

  • Based on the event setting, the attendee headshot can be displayed in the attendee list and profile.  You have the option to remove, update or upload your own headshot image.

Surveys/Polls/Q&A:

  • After you log into the app, if you respond to surveys, polls or engage in Q&A functionalities, your information will be accessible to the event organizers.  If you are not logged into the app, your response will become anonymous.

Gamifications/Scans:

  • In NIBA 2024 Annual Convention app, if you use the app camera to scan any session or exhibitor QR code, you are explicitly giving access to the organizer or exhibitor your profile information.
  • If you allow exhibitors, event staff, or other attendees to scan your app profile QR code, badge QR/Bar code, you are explicitly giving them access to your profile information.

Networking/Chat:

  • For any event, that enables private message/chat feature, app is using your device, name, and headshot (if you upload) to establish the communication channel for the message engine. You can opt out of this feature upon sign in or through app settings any time.

Analytics

  • We use third-party services for analytics of app usage. We pass your device information and name to the analytics engine to track app analytics.  Event organizer can use such information to better prepare/plan future events for the attendees and other stakeholders.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your personal information only so long as we need it for the purposes for which it was collected, for the products and services that you are using, or to meet any legal requirements. We have retention standards, which meet these requirements. We will delete your personal information when it is no longer needed.

Do we share information with other parties?

We do not sell or trade your personal information to any third party.  

Third parties that your Information is shared:

  • Event Organizers: NIBA 2024 Annual Convention app may share user data with event organizers and sponsors to facilitate event planning, management, and sponsorship activities. This could include providing organizers with attendee lists, demographic information, and engagement metrics to help them understand and enhance the event experience.
  • Other app users: Through the attendee list profile, your information will be visible to other attendees of the app.  Through badge QR code scan, you are also giving explicit access to your personal information.  The above information is only available to other users with your setting and consent.
  • Third-Party Service Providers: NIBA 2024 Annual Convention app may engage third-party service providers to perform various functions on its behalf, such as hosting the app's servers, sending notifications, or analyzing user data. These service providers may have access to user data to the extent necessary to perform their services but are typically bound by confidentiality agreements and data protection obligations.
  • Integration Partners: NIBA 2024 Annual Convention app may integrate with other third-party platforms or services to enhance its functionality or provide additional features to users. In such cases, user data may be shared with these integration partners to enable seamless integration and interoperability between systems.
  • Event Sponsors/Exhibitors:
    • User data may be shared with app sponsoring partners based on app users’ behavior. This could involve sharing anonymized or aggregated data to protect user privacy.
    • When your QR code is scanned, or you scanned an exhibitor or session QR code, your information will be shared with the exhibitor or the event organizer.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, user data may be transferred as part of the transaction. Eventpedia will notify clients and users of any such changes and ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect users’ rights and privacy interests.
  • Legal and Compliance Obligations: NIBA 2024 Annual Convention app may share user data in response to legal requests, court orders, or government investigations, or to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes. This could include sharing data with law enforcement agencies, regulatory authorities, or other third parties as required by law.

How do we protect your information?

The NIBA 2024 Annual Convention mobile app has implemented technical solutions to protect attendee data from unauthorized access.  All data services are using advanced security mechanisms and we encrypt/decrypt all transmitted data between our webservices and API calls.

If we engage any business partners, they will be contractually bound to maintain the confidentiality of all events related information and may not use the information for any unauthorized purpose. Our clients may also impose additional data rights and protection obligations depending on the law, regulations and rules that govern their data processing practices.
