Keynote: Leading Teams Through Turbulent Times
Thursday, September 24, 2009
9:30 am – 12:00 pm
Michael Corcoran
High performance leaders understand that managing employee morale is especially difficult during times of change and challenge. The pressure faced by leaders today during times like these often results in focus on ‘bottom line’ results at the expense of business relationships with employees, clients, and suppliers. Peripheral Vision is essential to stay in tune with the greater picture. An understanding of how the collaboration of these key stakeholders promotes achievement of bottom line objectives is critical to successful leadership in today’s dynamic environment. The key to meeting and exceeding results is expanding the leadership circle and motivating the team to think ‘beyond’ while creating opportunities during times of dynamic change.
Leadership Influence for TEAM Excellence
Friday, September 25, 2009
9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Liz Hafer
TEAM Excellence requires leaders to ‘Shift’ their leadership influence by ‘passing the ball’ to those on the team who bring the best value at each point of the business process. This program will leave participants with key strategies to increase understanding of their ‘TEAM style’ and how to tap into the individual strengths of team members.
Participants will complete the ‘Team Management Profile’ 64-question on-line assessment 30 days prior to the NIBA Convention. Using these results, leaders will engage in an interactive session that will identify the eight ‘work functions’ that drive all business process. Participants will put these results into action by identifying specific and executable steps to immediately employ with teams back in the workplace.
‘LeaderShift’ is often the difference between high performing teams and those that achieve mediocre results. Well-balanced teams require a ‘shift’ of leadership across functional preference areas. Who on the team ‘holds the ball’ is determined by team member preferences and abilities. Team members who know when to take the ball and when to pass are those who promote the balance necessary to increase team performance.
This program provides participants with the identification of key work preferences and where an individual likes to spend their time in the wheel of team balance. Understanding the different skill sets associated with work preference areas provides team members with the ability to influence the team through ‘leadershifting’. Ultimately teams are able to significantly increase performance by gaining the insight of where each team member provides the most value to current challenges and opportunities. This knowledge results in marked communication efficiencies and effectiveness of achieving objectives.
Mind-Set Matters
Friday, September 25, 2009
9:00 am – 12:00 pm

Mind-Set is an attitude and the philosophy of how we choose to look and participate within the world or workplace. Your Mind-Set creates your way of doing business. It defines you. It is your fabric, your core. It is who you are, how you are represented and how you are perceived. As a leader, your Mind-Set determines how an organization operates and how employees show up to the workplace. Does your Mind-Set create passion, spirit and life? Does your Mind-Set ignite energy and motivation for teams to exceed expectations?
This workshop outlines how the Mind-Set, Attitude, and Philosophy model influences leadership and ultimately shapes the organization. Participants will walk away with an understanding of how to create a ‘Mind-Set’ that supports high performance leadership.
